Early life

Trump was born on June 14, 1946, at Jamaica Hospital in the borough of Queens, New York City. He was an energetic, assertive child. His father was Frederick Christ Trump, a Bronx-born real estate developer whose parents were German immigrants, his father made a lot of money building low income housing in Brooklyn and Queens. He was born 4th of the 5 children. His mother was Scottish-born housewife Mary Anne MacLeod Trump. Trump grew up in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood of Queens and attended the Kew-Forest School from kindergarten through seventh grade. He followed his father’s footsteps especially amongst all five children. His father worked 24/7 often with little personal care to the children, teaching the Trump children to stay competitive.

He became president of his father's real estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization, and expanded its operations to building or renovating skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Trump later started various side ventures, mostly by licensing his name. Trump and his businesses have been involved in more than 4,000 state and federal legal actions, including six bankruptcies.

Education

Schooling

At age 13, Trump’s parents sent him to the New York Military Academy, hoping the discipline of the school would channel his energy in a positive manner. He did well at the academy, both socially and academically, rising to become a star athlete and student leader by the time he graduated in 1964.

In College/University

Trump attended the Wharton School of Business, which is a part of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in May 1968 with a B.S. in economics. . He often boasts of attending this prestigious business school and has commonly referred to it as evidence of his ‘intellectual superiority’. Critics of Trump have pointed out, however, that although he attended the business school, he left with only an undergraduate degree and not the more prestigious academic accolade of an MBA. In addition, he didn’t actually complete his whole degree at Penn University. In fact, he completed his first two years at Fordham University. During his time studying there, he is said to have achieved good grades. Note: the use of the word ‘good’ and not ‘excellent’ – we will interpret this to mean that he didn’t do so great in his studies. In addition, the reason behind his transfer from Fordham to Penn was not due to his academic prowess, but instead down to the fact that the admissions officer was a friend of his brother’ s from high school!

President Trump is rather proud of his educational background. He is known to refer to his Ivy League education frequently. He doesn’t, however, refer to the fact that only two of his four years were spent at this Ivy League college. Besides, many people feel that his constant reference to his education as “Ivy League” is brash and lowers its high education status.

Political life

He entered the 2016 presidential race as a Republican and was elected in a surprise electoral college victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton while losing the popular vote.[a] He became the oldest first-term U.S. president[b] and the first without prior military or government service. His election and policies have sparked numerous protests. Trump has made many false or misleading statements during his campaign and presidency. The statements have been documented by fact-checkers, and the media have widely described the phenomenon as unprecedented in American politics.
