Scentbird enables its users to choose and try a sample of designer fragrances on a monthly basis before buying them. They raised their Series A in May of last year in a round led by Goodwater Capital.
Mariya Nurislamova is Founder of Scentbird Inc. and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. She has a strong vision for Scentbird, a clear understanding of the tech industry, as well as a great nose and the ability to translate fragrance into moving visuals. She is a Speed Reading Coach and danced Ballroom professionally for 8years- but her true passion is Perfume. She moved to NYC from her native Russia, began a scent blog and started Scentbird in early 2013 by running “Scent Discovery Soirees” (perfume “tasting” events where got tipsy on perfume instead of wine!). Prior to starting Scentbird, she was Chief Operating Officer of Neuvey, an IT outsourcing company, and co-founded Beta Week - an invite only IT conference based in Moscow.
Mariya has a background in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Marketing. She completed her BS in Mathematics, Computer Science from Perm State Technical University (PSTU) in 2007 and BBA from City University of New York-Baruch College - Zicklin School of Business in 2011.
